and make it a grand success to compel the central govt. to announce the 7th cpc
in this year budget itself
Central
Trade Unions including BMS, intuc,
aituc, hms, citu, aiutuc, tucc, aicctu, utuc, lpf & sewa has
demanded the Central Govt. to appoint 7th Central Pay Commission and also to raise the
income tax exemption ceiling for salaried workers to five lakhs per annum and
fringe benefits like housing, medical and educational facilities should be
exempted from the income tax net in totality.
The demand is raised in the joint memorandum submitted by the
leaders of the above Central Trade Unions to Sri. P.Chidambaram, Hon’ble
Minister of Finance Govt. of India on 03.01.2013, when they attended a meeting
called by Finance Minister for pre-budget consultations.
Relevant
portion of the memorandum is reproduced below:
“The
revision of wages and various service conditions of the Government employees is
already due. Constitution of the VIIth Pay Commission be announced in this Budget”
“Income tax exemption ceiling for the
salaried persons should be raised to Rs.5 lakhs per annum and fringe benefits
like housing, medical and educational facilities should be exempted from the
income tax net is totality”
