PROVIDENT FUND INTEREST RATE 2015-16 FIXED AT 8.7%

Government Decides to Fix Interest Rates at 8.7% for General Provident Fund(GPF) and other Similar Funds Including Special Deposit Scheme, 1975(SDS,1975) for Non-Government Provident, Superannuation and Gratuity Funds for the Financial Year 2015-16.
It was decided by the Government to link the interest rates of State PFs (General Provident Fund and other similar funds) including Special Deposit Scheme, 1975 (SDS, 1975) for Non-Government Provident, Superannuation and Gratuity Funds for the FY 2015-16 to Public Provident Fund (PPF) rates. In pursuance of that decision, the Government has decided to fix the rates 8.7% per annum applicable to the following:-
· The General Provident Fund (Central Services).
Recently, the Government had kept the interest rates for PPF and other Small Savings Schemes intact. However, interest rates for 5 year Senior citizen Saving Scheme and Sukanya Samriddhi Account Scheme have been increased from 9.2 to 9.3% and 9.1 to 9.2% respectively, keeping in view the commitment of the Government towards the welfare of the girl child and the senior citizens. · The Indian Ordnance Factories Workmen’s Provident Fund.
· The Indian Naval Dockyard Workmen’s Provident Fund.
· The Defence Services Officers Provident Fund.
· The Armed Forces Personnel Provident Fund.
The rate of interest is applicable to the above funds w.e.f. 1st April, 2015 and until further orders.

MONEY ORDER SERVICE OF ‘INDIA POST’ MADE MORE EFFICIENT

The Department of Posts has denied some media reports that its Money Order service has been discontinued. The Money Order service continues to be available to the common man at the same service charge with the same facility of the money being delivered at the door step of the addressee. The Department in a clarification further said that this service had been made more reliable and fast by communicating information about the money to be transferred electronically between the booking and delivery post office. Thus, the money reaches faster to the addressee. The nature of service remains the same and it is also being called an electronic Money Order or eMO.Department of Posts also has another service offering instant online Money transfer service called as Instant Money Order (iMO), where the receiver can receive payment in cash through Post Offices.

Today (15.04.2015) Com. R.N.Parashar Secretary General NFPE & Com.N.Subramanian General Secretary AIPEU Gr C have visited the Directorate and met various officers.
Shri Ashutosh Tripathi, Member (Personnel) was apprised to revoke the transfer orders issued in the name of “INTEREST OF SERVICE”to our P3 Circle Secretary Karnataka circle. He assured us to do the needful.
Shri. T. Murthy Member (Operations) was met on courtesy call. He sought cooperation of the unions for best results. We reciprocated the same.
Cadre Restructuring proposal is now said to be cleared by Member (P) and waiting for green signal of JS& FA. Member (P) and DDG (Estt) have assured for early forwarding to DoPT, probably within a fortnight.
DDG (Personnel) was briefed about Postmaster Cadre issues, PS Group B Quota & Problems in LSG Promotion especially in Tamilnadu Circle. Due to his busy schedule, he advised us to meet again next day. We have a plan to meet him on Monday ( 20.04.2015)
DDG (R&P) was elucidated the issue of ASSAM Circle Inspector,Posts Departmental Quota vacancies. He assured to rectify the mistakes if any.
It is revealed by the DE Section that LGO LDCE Result and IP LDCE Result are getting delayed due to plenty of representations against Answer Keys.

POSTAL DEPT. ON THE E-WAY TO KEEP MONEY ORDER RELEVANT-- PRESS NEWS

Amid today’s communication revolution, post offices too have come a long way from the days of money orders delivered with handwritten notes.
The sending and recording of money orders was computerised in 2008. A customer could opt for various options — electronic money order, instant money order, mobile money order and international money order. However, the volume of money orders despatched has come down and today, nearly 90 per cent of such transactions involve beneficiaries of various State and Central welfare schemes, including old age pension.
A recent rumour that the money order service has been scrapped sent shock waves among postal customers and staff. Recalling those days when postal staff had to manually record the details such as form number and sanctioned amount, J. Srivenkatesh, circle president ( P3 Union TN Circle) of National Federation of Postal Employees, said: “People still continue to fill forms manually. But we have switched over to electronic mode of operations.”
Clarifying that there were no plans to withdraw the service, Mervin Alexander, post master general (Chennai City Region), said nearly nine lakh money orders are handled in the region every month.
But, mobile money transfer service wherein the customer must produce a text message with secret code to receive money is yet to catch up.
